OUR SKILLING AND LIVELIHOOD IMPACT

OUR SKILLING AND LIVELIHOOD IMPACT

SOSHEDO Foundation recognises that access to practical skills, economic opportunities and sustainable livelihoods is essential for building resilient and empowered communities. Many women, young people and vulnerable community members face barriers to employment, entrepreneurship, financial resources and market opportunities. Our skilling and livelihood programmes therefore focus on equipping individuals and community groups with practical knowledge, skills and confidence to improve their economic wellbeing.

Through community-based training, mentorship, awareness creation and support for income-generating initiatives, SOSHEDO promotes opportunities that are locally relevant, accessible and sustainable. We encourage participants to build on their existing knowledge and resources while exploring new opportunities for entrepreneurship, employment and community development.

OUR IMPACT AT A GLANCE

  • 80+women, youth and vulnerable community members trained in vocational and livelihood skills.
  • 50+youth and women supported to develop or strengthen income-generating activities.

These achievements demonstrate our commitment to creating pathways through which individuals and households can strengthen their livelihoods and contribute to local economic development.

WHAT WE HAVE ACHIEVED

Through our skilling and community development interventions, SOSHEDO Foundation has contributed to several important outcomes:

Increased Access to Practical Skills

We have expanded access to practical, vocational and livelihood-oriented skills among women, youth and vulnerable community members. The training enables participants to develop abilities that can be applied to employment, self-employment and small-scale enterprise development.

Improved Entrepreneurship Knowledge

Participants have gained increased knowledge of entrepreneurship, business planning and small-business management. We encourage aspiring entrepreneurs to identify viable opportunities, understand their customers, manage resources responsibly and develop realistic approaches to growing their enterprises.

Strengthened Financial Literacy

Our interventions promote financial literacy and responsible household financial management. Community members are supported to understand budgeting, saving, financial planning and responsible use of available resources, helping households make more informed economic decisions.

Support for Income-Generating Activities

We support women and youth to explore, establish and strengthen income-generating activities based on their skills, interests, local resources and market opportunities. This approach encourages economic independence while promoting locally appropriate livelihood solutions.

Stronger Savings and Economic Groups

SOSHEDO promotes community-based savings and economic groups as platforms for financial inclusion, mutual support and collective action. Such groups can help members develop saving habits, strengthen financial resilience and work together towards shared economic objectives.

Increased Awareness of Value Addition

We promote awareness of value addition and market-oriented livelihood opportunities. Community members are encouraged to look beyond the sale of raw products and explore ways of improving, processing, packaging or marketing locally available products to increase their potential economic value.

Promotion of Local Resources

We encourage communities to recognise locally available skills, materials, knowledge and natural resources as potential foundations for sustainable enterprise development. This helps participants identify opportunities that are realistic within their own communities and available resources.

Strengthened Leadership and Decision-Making

Beyond technical and vocational skills, our programmes contribute to stronger leadership, teamwork, communication and decision-making capacities. Participants are encouraged to take initiative, work collaboratively and participate actively in community development.

OUR APPROACH

SOSHEDO Foundation believes that skilling is most effective when training is connected to real economic opportunities. We therefore combine practical skills development with entrepreneurship education, financial literacy, community participation and livelihood support.

Our goal is not simply to train people, but to help individuals and groupsĀ turn skills into opportunities, opportunities into livelihoods, and livelihoods into greater household and community resilience.

By investing in women, youth and vulnerable community members, SOSHEDO contributes to stronger families, increased economic participation and more resilient communities. We continue to seek partnerships and resources that can expand access to vocational training, enterprise development, mentorship, market linkages and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
